Nella notte tra il 4 e il 5 novembre 1943, un reparto di militari tedeschi, coadiuvato da elementi della Guardia nazionale repubblicana, effettu\u00f2 un rastrellamento di ebrei residenti nella citt\u00e0 di Siena. Gli arrestati furono rinchiusi nella caserma Lamarmora, per poi essere trasferiti prima a Bologna e successivamente deportati ad Auschwitz.\nUn secondo gruppo di cinque ebrei residenti nella provincia di Siena fu arrestato e deportato nella seconda met\u00e0 di febbraio 1944. Trasferiti inizialmente presso il campo provinciale di Bagno a Ripoli (Firenze), almeno due di essi \u2013 Angelo Aj\u00f2, residente ad Asciano e nato a Pitigliano, e la moglie Fanny Di Porto, nata a Livorno \u2013 furono successivamente inviati al campo di Fossoli.
